LEXAN Corrugated Sheets — Agriculture application
01

Overview

Many agricultural products rely on natural sunlight for drying before storage or further processing. However, traditional open-air drying methods leave crops vulnerable to sudden rainfall, contamination, and production delays, resulting in inconsistent product quality and increased operating costs.

To improve process reliability, an agricultural processing facility implemented a transparent polycarbonate roofing solution that protected drying operations from changing weather conditions while maintaining the high levels of natural light required for efficient drying.

02

The challenge

The drying yard required a roofing material capable of protecting crops without restricting sunlight or disrupting natural airflow.

The selected solution needed to:

  1. Protect agricultural products from unexpected rainfall
  2. Maximise natural daylight for efficient drying
  3. Reduce production interruptions caused by changing weather
  4. Minimise maintenance while withstanding long-term outdoor exposure
  5. Provide a lightweight roofing solution that could be installed quickly over large drying areas

Maintaining drying efficiency while reducing weather-related losses was critical to improving productivity.

03

The solution

LEXAN™ Corrugated Sinus Profile Polycarbonate Sheets were installed as a transparent roofing system above the drying yard.

Their high light transmission allowed natural sunlight to continue reaching the crops, while the weather-resistant roofing protected the drying area from rain and reduced disruptions during the harvesting season. The lightweight sheets also simplified installation and reduced structural loading compared with traditional roofing materials.
