Overview
Healthcare environments are expected to meet stringent hygiene standards while creating spaces that put patients at ease. In facilities such as dental clinics, diagnostic centres, hospitals, and imaging rooms, interior materials must withstand frequent cleaning and disinfection without compromising appearance or long-term durability.
For this project, LEXAN™ polycarbonate sheet solutions were used to create a hygienic interior with vibrant wall graphics, transforming a clinical imaging room into a more welcoming patient environment while maintaining the performance required for healthcare applications.
The challenge
The facility wanted to move away from a traditional clinical appearance by incorporating colourful wall finishes and large-format graphics that could improve the patient experience, particularly for children and anxious patients.
At the same time, the materials needed to:
- Withstand frequent cleaning and disinfection
- Resist stains, scratches, and everyday wear
- Maintain long-term appearance in a high-traffic healthcare environment
- Support high-quality digital printing for decorative graphics
- Meet the hygiene requirements expected in modern healthcare facilities
Finding materials that combined durability, printability, and ease of maintenance was essential.
The solution
The project combined two specialised LEXAN™ sheet solutions.
LEXAN™ CLINIWALL Sheet was selected for the primary wall cladding, providing a durable, easy-to-maintain surface designed for hygienic interior environments.
To introduce colour and visual interest, LEXAN™ EXTRITE Sheet was digitally printed with custom graphics. The printed surface remained protected by the sheet's abrasion-resistant outer layer, helping preserve image quality despite regular cleaning and everyday use.
Together, the materials created an interior that balanced functionality with a more welcoming aesthetic.
